This eighteenth century house was formerly the residence of the Viscountess of Maiorca. Even today many local persons still refer to the house as 'Casa da Viscondessa' - 'House of the Viscountess'.
The previous owner entered a religious order which required her to sell her houses and donate the proceeds to the order. 

As you look over the Neiva river valley from the house or gardens, the visitor is amazed at the energy and commitment that was required to restore the house from a shell and to re-create the gardens and plant the vineyards which stretch into the distance.

The gardens provide many shady areas to relax and enjoy a good book with a glass of the excellent house wine at hand with the sound of the many fountains in the background.

The house is well placed for day trips by car. To the south are the historic cities of Braga, Briteiros and Guimaraes while to the east is the National Park of Peneda-Geres and the towns of Ponte de Barca and Lindoso.

To the north, there are many ancient monuments, including the Spanish pilgrimage town of Santiago de Compostela, one of the most famous pilgrimage centres after Jerusalem and Rome.
The west offers the coast with beaches which are famous for surfing and fishing.

There are eight guest bedrooms in the main house and additional self catering cottages in the grounds sleeping 2 or 4 persons.

Guests have the use of the swimming pool, the tennis court and the snooker and table tennis tables.

There is an open air kitchen which all guests are welcome to use.  Light meals and snacks are available.
