A supporting wall of the old palace can still be seen, leading to the former pilgrims' resting place and the charming chapel of Nossa Senhora da Piedade.

This little chapel, which survived the earthquake, has a domed Manueline ceiling and the walls are covered in 18th century tiles depicting the life of Christ.

Most Sunday's at 12 noon public Mass is celebrated in this small chapel.

Today the Quinta has been converted into one of the most pleasant country accommodations in Portugal.

The manor has been completely restored and is luxuriously furnished with Portuguese antique furniture.
